CENTRAL DATABASE OF MARKET PARTICIPANTS

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had notified the SEBI (Central Database of Market Participants) Regulations 2003 for creation of a central database of market participants and Investors (MAPIN database) by assigning a Unique Identification Number (UIN).

In continuation with the said Regulations, SEBI vide its circular no. MAPIN/Cir-23/2004 dated 16th July, 2004 has informed that in partial modification of SEBI circular no.SMDRP/Policy/CIR-39/2001 dated 18th July, 2001 all specified intermediaries and their related persons shall quote the UIN obtained under the MAPIN database in lieu of the Unique Client Code for all secondary market transactions with effect from 2nd August, 2004. Further, it has been decided that, with effect from 2nd August 2004, wherever applicable, the UIN along with the SEBI registration number must be quoted on all correspondence, documents and reports sent to or filed with SEBI by the specified intermediaries and/or their related persons.

All the specified intermediaries and their related persons are requested to take note of the same and comply.
