The evolution of the Indian capital market has seen several enhancements during the past few years and this has been a result of innovative use of newer technologies. In the reduced settlement cycle era, investors require updated demat account information at a much faster pace than ever before. In other words, the quest for account status information has risen manifold.

In order to facilitate a CDSL demat account holder to easily adapt to the fast reducing settlement cycle, CDSL has introduced easi, its Internet-enabled services to empower a demat account holder in managing his securities ‘anytime-anywhere’ in an efficient and convenient manner, all in a state-of-the-art secure environment.

easi, which enables a ‘Demat Account Holder or Beneficial Owner’ (BO) / ‘Broker or Clearing Member’ (CM) to view the holdings and transactions.

easi-electronic Access to Securities Information

1.    What is easi?
easi is a convenient, simple to operate facility, which allows a registered BO to access his demat account through the Internet for obtaining information about his holdings and transactions, anywhere, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, through CDSL’s website www.cdslindia.com.

2.    Why should I register for the easi facility?
A BO/CM should register for easi as it allows him anytime-anywhere access of the holdings and transactions in his demat account. Thus, a BO can, not only monitor his demat account but also does not require to approach his DP each time a statement of account is required. The portfolio valuation facility also saves valuable time for investors in looking up stock quotes daily.

3.    What facilities are available on easi for BOs?
A BO can use easi for :

1. Viewing his account.
2. Viewing and printing the balances and transactions in his account.
3. Viewing and printing the value of his holdings in his account as of the previous day’s closing price on BSE.

4.    What facilities are available on easi for CMs?
A CM can use easi for:

1. Viewing and printing of holdings in his settlement accounts.
2. Obtaining upto the moment status of pay-in and pay-out details.
3. Viewing the status of various instructions.
4. Obtaining a download of above mentioned details (in CSV or HTML format) for updating his back office.
5. Viewing the value of his various holding as of the previous day’s closing price at BSE.

5.    Can all BOs /CMs use this facility?
Yes, this facility is available to all BOs and CMs. A CM can avail of this facility by directly registering with CDSL, even though his DP has not subscribed to the easi facility. However, a BO can avail of this facility only if the DP with whom he maintains his account is registered for this facility.
